Art Show

The art show was a success!  Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting the local arts.  I'm looking forward to doing another show sometime in the near future... I already have a couple ideas that I'm going to start working on.  So excited!

King Arthur

I painted this while I was reading "The Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley.  It's a ferociously long read, so after about fifteen years of owning this book I finally decided to conquer it.  So glad I did!  It's the story of King Arthur, only told from the female perspective.  Lots of pagan stuff and witchery.  Super inspirational.

Also, the newspaper article about my upcoming show, along with a picture of me, was printed in the Sierra Star this week, very edited and without my quotes.  Very nice though.  It's weird when people recognize me in town.

Preparing for my first art show - "Welcome to My World"

Off to the press -

Postcards for art show (see previous post) - thanks to Nelson Press
Press release in which I quote myself (funny) - thanks to the Sierra Star

Haven't had much time to paint lately....

But I did get all inspired by an illustrator I found, Angie Hoffmeister.  One of her pieces, number 22 I believe, is my desktop now.

Sketchbook Project

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

My sketchbook will have the theme "Nightmare". Dreams are so interesting and open to interpretation, so I'm excited to see if I can fill an entire Moleskin sketchbook exploring this theme, without just making it a dream diary. I don't really have nightmares all that often anymore.

Sasquatch

This is one of my newest pieces.  Hope you like it.

This painting is dedicated to one of my friends, Johnathan, a true flatlander.  He's scared to drive up here in the mountains, he thinks the wild peacocks living around here are velociraptors, and he is totally afraid of sasquatch.  So I painted him this painting.  It's acrylic on wood, and on the back side there are two, long, natural gashes in the wood.  I love that part.
