I've spent the winter tucked away in my studio, working on a bunch of new pieces. After the Mandalas from my last show, I wanted to return to my more personal style and themes, using the sparser, more spacious color palette and design I was exploring with the Mandala pieces. Also inspiring are these design blogs: Remodelista, Ink and Post, and housemartin, to name a few - the aesthetic is clean and homey, with a touch of do-it-yourself roughness and miles and miles of white paint.
My new series of paintings is clean, crisp, and airy. But don't be fooled - there's a primal undertone there, beating war drums just beneath the surface.
